Artistic and ecological at the Warsaw Targówek 2012

Within the framework of the ”Targówek Days – Artistic Targówek 2012” in Warsaw, on May 27, 2012 the collection of used electrical and electronic equipment as well as used batteries and accumulators took place.
It would seem that the collection of electronic waste which is not needed by anyone, is easy…

After all, electronic waste is not needed by anyone. Nothing could be further from the truth. The users claim that if something is not needed any longer, then it is necessary to get rid of it, that is, put it into the rubbish bin or take it down to the basement. The basket full of electro-waste ”decorated” with other household waste, is sooner or later emptied at the local dustbin, supplying the municipal waste with exquisite electronic equipment and a select set of poisons from batteries and accumulators.

In order for used electrical and electronic equipment to not reach the municipal waste, and then the ground and ground water, a lot of effort must be made. Convincing the users of the detrimental impact of the used WEEE requires the exertion of impact on many planes.Taking actions described below, we have accomplished the main objective.

A reduction in the level of presence of used electrical and electronic equipment as well as batteries and accumulators in the municipal waste and households vs. an increased recovery (including recycling) level.

From conveying knowledge about the detrimental impact of WEEE as well as batteries and accumulators on the environment and man’s organism, through the demonstration of this negative impact in various forms and propagation of the ecological attitudes of users, to making them familiar with statutory penalties which are imposed in connection with the improper handling of WEEE as well as used batteries and accumulators.

The collection was preceded by an intensive educational action in the form of a leaflet (1000 pieces), regarding the collection, containing information on the harmfulness of WEEE as well as used batteries and accumulators. The fundamental contents were included in the information on the compounds occurring in WEEE as well as used batteries and accumulators.
